Alan Chovel

Alan Chovel founded Shovel Construction in 2008, playfully naming the company after his last name, “Chovel.” As the driving force behind business development and project management, Alan spearheads client relationships, strategic growth, company finances, and project oversight for this premier South Florida shell and masonry contractor.

With over 20 years of construction expertise, he has managed residential and commercial projects ranging from $50,000 to $100 million, including high-profile work at Miami International Airport and the Boca Beach Club. His career includes leadership roles with several of South Florida’s largest general contractors and major firms that execute large-scale projects both domestically and internationally, including in Africa. This broad experience has given Alan deep knowledge of complex, high-stakes construction environments—from luxury condominiums and healthcare facilities to airport infrastructure and international developments.

Holding a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida and a Master’s in Construction Management from Florida International University, Alan combines academic rigor with hands-on leadership. Fluent in English and Spanish, he excels in contract negotiations, project scheduling, risk management, and client satisfaction—ensuring Shovel Construction consistently delivers quality, safety, and value on every project.
